Just start

on

Are you stuck? You don’t know where to start and are panicking? How about you just make the first move without wondering which direction to take and if it’ll be the right one?

Good ideas don’t always come in the first instance. Sometimes you have to go through various ones that are either terrible, not compatible with what you want, or just not viable before you get to the one that’s going to be ‘the one’. You never know, there might be several of those, but you’re freaking out too much about how to start to find out.

There’s a lot of anxiety that comes with starting new things, but instead of getting stuck right at the beginning how about you just start with anything and everything to see what comes out?

There is this quote that I like by Jodi Picoult: “You can always edit a bad page. You can’t edit a blank one” and it always makes me think. You can always fix and make adjustments as you go through anything you’ve come up with but you can’t do that to things that don’t exist.

So, as a writer, I always try to write something every day even if I think it’s not my best work. There’s always time to edit my piece and make it better, but I couldn’t do that if I’d just given up from the start and said ‘I can’t write’ or ‘I can’t do this.’

This quote can apply to everything and I hope it gives you the last push you needed to start something that you probably really want, but are scared of getting off the ground.
